Homework in Year 4 comprises of 3 areas: reading, times tables and vehicle homework
At Bradley Barton Primary School we ask that children read at home with an adult. This needs to be recorded in the reading diary which should be signed to confirm that the reading has taken place. Children will receive raffle tickets for the amount of reading they do at home: 3 times = 1 raffle ticket, 5 times = 2 raffle tickets, 7 times = 3 raffle tickets! At the the end of each half term, there will be a raffle draw where the children could win their very own book to keep.
Each week, we also do a hot chocolate lucky dip where a child chosen at random gets to choose a book for the weekend and enjoy a hot chocolate. This is to help promote the love of reading.
Learning times tables is an essential part of your child's mathematical development, and helping them to master these at their own pace is a great way to support their mathematical learning at home. Children should access Times Table Rock Stars to help with learning their tables.
Finally, our vehicle homework will include design and make projects, research, presentations and games. It will be given out on a Friday and usually need to be returned to school the following Wednesday. Some homework tasks may be slightly larger and therefore we will allow more time to complete them. Homework will be set on seesaw which is where children can share what they have done to complete it. Dojo points will be awarded for homework which is completed to our usual Ravens standard of work.
