Extra-curricular Clubs At Bradley Barton

In addition to their class music lessons and instrumental lessons, children at Bradley Barton are warmly invited to attend an extra-curricular music club to extend and deepen their love of music.

Depending on the time of year, a variety of clubs are offered in school. These have included Ukulele Band, Soundwaves Project, Rock Band Club, Christmas Bells club, and of course our ever-popular KS2 Choir Club. Choir Club runs every second half term, and is open to anyone in Key Stage 2, regardless of their previous singing experience.

Invitations to an upcoming club will be communicated via email. Parents can then book their child's place via the School Gateway app, and places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Chorister Outreach Project (February 2020)

In the Spring Term, our KS2 Choir were lucky enough to be chosen to perform in Exeter Cathedral as part of the Chorister Outreach Project. This was a joint venture involving choristers from Exeter Cathedral Choristers, Devon Youth Choir and local primary school choirs. Our choir perfomed one of our favourite songs, "I can see clearly now" on our own, and came together in a memorable 200-children strong chorus for "Gospel medley", "Walk on" and "Thank you for the music". Performing to an audience of over 700 in such majestic surroundings was a truly memorable experience for all the children involved!

The Soundwaves Project (December 2019)

Following on from our amazing Rock Band Club (where a group of Year 5 and 6s were taught the basics in guitar, drum, keyboard and vocal skills by JJ's Arts Academy), Bradley Barton's very first rock band was established - the Part Time Rockers!

They took part in the Soudwaves Project (jointly funded through DAISI, Youth Music and Devon Music Education Hub). This exciting project saw the group of 6 young musicians write, practise, record, market and perform their very own Christmas single! The song "Snow Rock" was recorded in the studio at JJ's Arts Academy in Newton Abbot, with members of the choir providing backing singing.

After the band performed the song as part of last year's Christmas Show, families kindly purchased copies of the compilation CD (which featured seven other songs by local schools). The proceeds of these sales has enabled the school to purchase two high quality microphones and stands and a bass guitar and amplifier. Thank you to everyone who supported our music provision at Bradley Barton by buying a CD, and we hope when you listen to it in future years you will be reminded about the unforgettable live performance given by...

Mapleton Care Home Concert (October 2019)

The KS2 Choir Club's first "gig" of the year was a lovely afternoon's performance at our local care home. The residents kindly invited us along to perform a selection of songs we had been learning, including several solo parts!

Somewhere only we know (Lily Allen)

I'm Still Standing (Elton John)

The Bare Necessities (Disney)

One Moment, One People (Sing Up)

A Million Dreams (Greatest Showman)

The children learned the true meaning of "The Show Must Go On" after the resident cat decided to join in!
