Miss Austin will be teaching in the Nursery on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Mrs Ashfield or Mrs Clark will teach on a Wednesday with Miss Henley and Mrs Jones.
Your child needs a named water bottle and appropriate clothing for the weather. As the weather gets warmer, your child will need a sun hat and sun cream. Please send your child to school in sun cream that has already been applied.
Your child is welcome to bring named wellies in for the Nursery garden and leave them on his/her peg.
Your child needs to bring his/her book bag every day. Please check for letters from school, library books and reading books (if applicable).
Home learning is given out at the beginning of each half term and can be brought in to share at any time.
At school, your child is encouraged and supported to look after and collect their own belongings, please also encourage this at home (Putting on coats and bags, remembering water bottles and cardigans/jumpers).
We follow the Letters and Sounds programme and use the Jolly Phonics actions to teach Phonics in Nursery.
We also use the Phonics Play website to support our phonics sessions.
Learning to Learn
This term we will continue to embed the Learning to Learn skills across the Foundation Stage Unit. The children are already demonstrating their skills as collaborative learners and using this language in their free learning. We are also developing the skill to be proactive and to reflect on their own and others learning. Can you find our collaborative bees, proactive squirrels and reflective fish in the classroom?
Sentence Tool Kit
This year we will continue use the sentence tool kit to support sentence writing across the school. All of the tools in the toolbox have the same meaning across the school however, only a select few tools will be used and displayed in each class depending on the key stage and success criteria.
Come into the Nursery and meet Bob the Builder, carefully decorated and placed on the wall by our children. Bob the builder is looking after the tools we need to build a good sentence. These are;
Paintbrush = Adjectives, Spanner = Conjunctions, Varying sized screwdrivers = full stops, exclamation mark, question mark.
