Applying for Secondary School Places:
Please see the above link to apply for your child's secondary school place. The application process closes on 31st October each year, so there is plenty of time to make the decision for which school you feel is best for your child.
Making the Decision:
It can be challenging to decide where you feel your child will fit best for the next stage of their education. The best things to do are to get a feel for each of the local schools through their Open Days, their school websites (where you will find useful documents such as Ofsted reports and exam results) and by speaking with other parents you know who have children there. It is also a good idea to find out where your child's friends are likely to go, as this will undoubtedly be one of the biggest factors in where they would prefer to go.

If you require any further information, all of the schools will welcome contact via email, phone or through their social media. Alternatively, please come and speak with the school office or your child's teacher if you would like our guidance- many of the school staff know the local secondary schools well and are only too happy to offer advice for your child's future.
What Happens Next:
After offers are made and confirmed, we at Bradley Barton will speak with your child’s secondary school and pass on important academic information, as well as giving them a general picture of your child as a member of the school. If you have any information you would like to be shared, you will have the chance to fill in transition booklets for Coombeshead and Newton Abbot College, but you are welcome to contact the school directly with information or to contact us and we can then pass this on.
In addition to this, your child will spend time at their new school in the summer term, where they will have the chance to meet their teachers and new classmates, as well as to orient themselves and to become confident about what awaits them in the future. These days always leave the children excited to get to their next adventure and feeling ready to move on from primary school!
As the year goes on, we will ensure that this page is kept up to date with the most relevant information that you need to ensure your child has a successful transition.
Our designated secondary transition leader is Miss Bacon if you have any questions regarding transition.
