Summer 2

Growing and Changing

This half term in our weekly PSHE SCARF lessons we will be looking at Growing and Changing. 

This will include; describing some of the different changes that happen during people's lives, looking at how feelings can change and how puberty plays a part in our changing feelings. The children will learn the correct terminology for male and female genitalia and what happens to both sexes during puberty. They will learn about periods, looking at the menstrual cycle and understanding that they are a normal part of puberty. They will look at the definitions of the words 'secret' and 'surprise', think about how some secrets and surprises can make us feel and think about adults that they can trust to ask for help. Finally they will look at marriage as a commitment between two people. They will learn about how marriage can now include same sex couplings and learn about the legal age.

In addition to the weekly lessons, additional Sex and Relationship lessons will be taught across an additional RSE week. Details of the coverage during these lessons is also attached below.
