Robins (Reception)

Welcome to Robins class

with Miss Bennett & Mrs Palma

Spring 2 2018/2019

Our topic is

People who help us!

Week beginning25/03/19:

This half term we are exploring the topic 'people who help us.' We will be thinking about different jobs and how people help us every day.

This week we are continuing our exploration of People who help us.

We will begin learning about non-fiction texts on people who help. We are going to start thinking about writing our own non-fiction book! We will choose a topic, find pictures, and do research as a class.

In maths, we are exploring subtraction. We are starting to count back to find an answer as well as thinking about how to represent these problems on paper.

As always, we have many opportunities for children to explore their learning independently. Some activities that they may take part in this week are:

  • Playing in the library role play
  • Exploring subtraction on the maths table
  • Designing our own book covers
  • Writing our own stories

Dates for the diary:

Tuesday 26th February - Visit from a midwife

Thursday 7th March  - World Book Day

Friday 15th March - Red Nose Day

Monday 1st April - Visit from a police officer

At Bradley Barton we promote Learning to Learn values and, this half term, we will be focusing on what these mean. We are all learning how to be collaborative, reflective, pro-active and motivated.

We love seeing the learning that the Robins are doing at home! Please feel free to send in anything that your child is proud of so we can celebrate this as a class!

Home Learning can be found at the top of this page - follow the homework link.

Please continue to read with your child and practise the phonic sounds identified in reading diaries.

Reading books are changed every Wednesday. We invite parents to change books at the end of the day if required.

Friendly Reminders:

As the weather changes please ensure that your child comes to school with appropriate clothing. Children have access to the outdoors so will need a named coat every day. If you have a pair of wellington boots your child can use at school please put these in a named bag which can be kept on their peg.

It is really important that the children stay hydrated throughout the day and we encourage all children to bring a bottle to school. These are kept in the classroom and can be accessed at any time. Bottles should only contain water.
