Welcome to the Magpies class page. Our class teacher is called Miss Medland.
We are all looking forward to a very busy and exciting term ahead!
Collaborating with Ravens and Herons.
Magpies is one of our three Year 3/4 classes in the school alongside Ravens and Herons. The three classes will be working together closely this year and will be covering the same learning objectives from the National Curriculum. Therefore your child may work with one of the adults from the other classes at various times this year.
Learning this term.
This term, Year 3/4 are learning about The Romans. Please see our topic web for more information.
In Magpies class, we aim to introduce and develop a passion for reading. We would be grateful for your help in encouraging regular reading at home as this helps to develop vocabulary and ideas for story writing. We ask that children read at least three times a week at home, for fifteen minutes or more. Your child has a reading diary to record the title of the book they are reading and the page they have read to. The children will be expected to bring this into school every day with their current reading book. Please sign your child's reading diary after they have read at home as this helps us to monitor reading and celebrate progress.
In Magpies Class, we have P.E on Monday and Wednesday. It is recommended that children keep their P.E kits in school from Monday to Friday in case any of our lessons have to be changed due to unforeseen circumstances e.g bad weather. For P.E the children will need: a white T-shirt, shorts or tracksuit bottoms, a sweatshirt/hoodie for colder weather and trainers. Please ensure your child's PE kit has their name clearly labelled.
The children will continue to visit the outdoor classroom this year. In Magpies class we have outdoor classroom on Thursday morning. Please ensure that your child has a warm, waterproof coat in school on this day.
In Year 3/4 we have an open door policy if you have any questions please speak to your child’s class teacher at the end of the school day.
